As the token Starwars anorak on this forum (jes' kiddin wid yu ) I have to post another load of meaningless tripe.

a) Jar Jar Binks is no way as annoying as Anakin Skywalker, who equates (IMO!) to the whale in Hitchhikers, only not as well acted:

b)Attack of the Clones my arse. The Empire Strikes Back was called Blue Harvest in production, Return of the Jedi was called Revenge of the Jedi. Georgie Boy was always intent on creating a legend, and I don't mean the story itself. It's not like the making of Fight Club, Toy Story were jealously guarded. And he has succeeded. Starwars. Love it or hate it, you can't ignore it.

George Lucas - Sigue Sigue Sputnik

For those of you old enough will remember the sham which was Sigue Sigue Sputnik. This was a band which mimed stuff which was recorded by session musicians. In short they tried to take the credit for the music which other talented individuals had made. Lucas was probably the first film director to pull of the same stunt.

If any of you have worked near the hollywood end of things you will know, far too clearly, how easy it is for a director not to direct but, instead, to lean upon the infrastructure which surrounds him/her. This `I don't know what do you think` scenario is often played out by weak directors who actually don't have the confidence in themselves. So they buy in some talented people and get their direction from them instead. This is how crap directors like Neil Jordan get to make good films like `The Crying Game`. This is also how the utter crapness which is Mr Lucas manages to hide himself amoung the talent of his co-workers and then, when the films done, step out to take the credit. Bollocks. Where would you rate American Grafitti in comparison to StarWars? Would it even be in your top 100? what about your top 500? Nah it'd probably be at the bottom of your top 1000. So how come the same director has managed to rocket StarWars into your top 100 (perhaps top 10 depending on how much of a fan you are) and yet most of his other films hover around your 1000-er-it's-basically-a-bit-better-than-plan-9 mark? Have I got a point or have I got a point?!

Despin... what I read was that Lucas hired a core group of FX artists who new the old techniques. It was a long gap between such films as King Kong and StarWars and there was a risk that all this effects knowledge would just be lost. Lucas, to his credit, salvaged this with StarWars.

do u have any basis what so ever to trash lucas like that? u havent given any proof that he does that, u just rant and give what u think. american grafitti and star wars are some of the greatest movies ever made, so if u have bad things to say about them, back it up clearly if u can. give something that is truly bad, not just something u didnt particularly care for.
